🌎 Failure is NOT an Option.

The great statesman Winston Churchill, in his first speech to the British House of Commons on May 13, 1940, uttered these words: “You ask what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory...”

Churchill was staring down an epic fight in 1940. For Great Britain to survive, that fight had to be won. Failure was not an option. World War II had begun, and the stakes were enormous!

Today in Canada, we are facing a battle — but with a different foe than Churchill faced. The threat against our nation is coming from an ideology of progressive globalism, a modern take on Karl Marx’s diabolical dogma.

We are being attacked on a number of fronts. I will mention a couple here.

Economically: It seems every other day another business is closing, industrial sites are laying off workers, or having to scale back production as investment flees Canada. You cannot tax business from every direction and expect it to continue producing. Business must be competitive in the global marketplace, or finances will collapse. The Thunder Bay–Rainy River district is not immune to this, as we have seen over the past few weeks.

Let me make this very clear: Environmental, socialist utopian policies cannot and will not replace industrial production. We are a resource-based economy. Handcuff the very industries that develop and produce these resources, and our economy will come crashing down. Carney can “catalyze,” “rupture,” “rules-based order,” “elbows up,” and “structural economic resilience” all day long in his grand speeches — and not-so-grand “ums” and “ahs” — but this fact WILL NOT change!

Bill C-69 is a prime example of hamstringing industry. This atrocious piece of legislation MUST be repealed!

Socially: The ever-rapid expansion of MAID to — let me be blunt — the killing of an elderly woman a few days ago whose caregiver was suffering from “burnout.” The expansion in a few months to the mentally ill, and the discussed expansion beyond that, which rivals the Roman Empire pre-Constantine in the early fourth century and Nazi Germany in the early 1940s.

Bill C-9, which will remove protections from all faith-based organizations across the nation, opening them up to legal prosecution for quoting the very writings their faith is based on.

Bill C-75, which removes the “principle of restraint,” leaving judges with no option but to release criminals back into society to reoffend over and over again.

Make no mistake — this is a fight we must win. Failure is NOT an option.

As you read this, Glenda and I will be in Calgary as delegates representing the TBRR riding at the Conservative biennial national convention. There, we will vote in a leadership review, select a new national council, and debate policy and constitutional changes, additions, or deletions.

As many of you know, last election cycle I was a nominee contestant to be candidate for the riding. We campaigned for over a year, but due to a technical error, my application was disallowed at the last minute.

Similar situations took place in a number of ridings across Canada. This process needs to be revamped. In light of that, several months back I wrote a proposed constitutional amendment to Section 14 of the CPC Constitution. This was approved by our EDA, was co-sponsored by a number of EDAs across Canada, and voted as a regional priority for Ontario. I will be presenting this at convention, and it will be voted on by the membership present.

Already, the National Council has updated the rules surrounding candidate nominations; however, we would like to see this go further and be enshrined in the party constitution. We will see what happens. Either way, the process will be much improved from the last time around.

All indicators are pointing to an early election — possibly even this spring. WE MUST BE READY! Please be sure your party membership is current, as you will need this to vote for your nominee of choice in what sounds like the not-too-distant future.

We will report back next Thursday after returning from convention in Calgary. We uploaded a video to Facebook this past Monday, with more to come in the future.

In the meantime, keep up the fight as we share the Conservative message of hope, freedom, prosperity, and a blessed future for this nation we love.

God bless you all, and God bless Canada.

We would love to hear from you.
