Where There is Hope...

Dr. O.S. Marden wrote these words many years ago.
“There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow.”
These words still ring true today!
This past week, Glenda and I were honored to attend the 2026 Conservative Party of Canada national convention in Calgary, Alberta. We were there as official delegates representing our home district of Thunder Bay – Rainy River.
The one word I would use to sum up the convention is HOPE.
Over 3,000 in attendance, the largest convention in the party’s history.
The number of young people in attendance, both men and women, was striking. Not only in attendance, but also taking part in debate on constitutional and policy matters, helping shape the party’s future direction.
The unity of direction and purpose among the 3,000 delegates was awesome to see. We all want a better Canada and a better future for our children and grandchildren.
As we walked the hallways, sat for lunch, discussed, debated, and voted, it was also great to see the openness and availability of dozens of sitting MPs and shadow ministers taking time to stop and chat. Let me add here, the caliber of men and women that make up the CPC caucus is second to none in the history of Canada. Once we form government, the affairs of this nation will be in extremely competent, principled, patriotic hands!
We voted on members for Ontario representatives to National Council. In Ontario, we have four councillors; there were six on the ballot. We now have two incumbents and two new members. These are young men and women ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead and fight to win!
Two of the highlights were the leadership review vote, with Pierre receiving an overwhelming mandate at 87.4% of the vote, the highest in history. We are a party united and moving forward to victory!
Pierre’s speech on Friday evening was one of the best of his career. It was a message of hope with clear direction, vision, and purpose. For anyone to say they don’t know what Pierre Poilievre or the Conservative Party stands for would simply mean their ears and minds are completely closed!
Protecting our homes, protecting our children, protecting our rights, rebuilding our military, reviving our economy, unleashing our resources, controlling government, rationalizing our immigration and justice system, and so much more.
It was all in there.
For the past eleven years, we have been a nation in decline. That downward gradient has only steepened under Carney’s tenure. -0.5% GDP in Q4 of 2025 is but one example. There are many examples, but that’s for another newsletter.
In the midst of what we are seeing around us, THERE IS HOPE! We all came away from that conference with a greater determination than ever before to work harder, smarter, and with even greater purpose to lead the Conservative Party to victory whenever the next election takes place. Make no mistake, we are and will be ready!
We have great expectation for a better tomorrow, for Canada and those who call it home.
Join us and be a part of bringing hope back to our nation. Together, we can turn this ship around to a good course of prosperity, security, and a bright future. I wholeheartedly agree and echo the last statement of Pierre’s speech on Friday evening in Calgary with regard to Canada’s future.
THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!
God bless you all, and God bless this great nation of Canada!
We would love to hear from you.
