Lest We Forget

On this Remembrance Day, November 11, 2024 lets each one renew our resolve to never forget the sacrifices made by those that never came home and also for those that did whose life would never be the same.

During the 1st. world war almost 61,000 Canadians never came home and died on the battlefield. Another 172,000 came home wounded, their bodies and minds broken in conflict. From the 240,000 population of Newfoundland the Island I was born on, then a British colony, 12,000 enlisted to fight. 1305 would never make it home, some of them I am told in my family tree.

1st world war

2nd world war

Korean war

The Persian Gulf war

Bosnian

Kosovo

Afghanistan

Iraq

and others.

Our Canadian armed forces have been called upon and answered that call to help maintain peace and freedom in a very troubled world.

We never want to go back to the numbers of dead and wounded that we saw because of WW1, WW2 the Korean war and others.

What is the best way to avoid these casualties? Appeasement? Ask Neville Chamberlain how that worked out!

I believe the answer is to portray strength. Ronald Regan had a famous mantra, "peace through strength".

We can and must support, strengthen and rebuild all branches of our Canadian Armed Forces and the brave, patriotic men and women that staff it. Not to get us into war but rather to keep us out. Bullies, tyrants, despots and evil leaders on the world stage laugh at appeasement. Strength is different, they have no choice but to respect strength!

Have our current leaders forgotten? Talk is not enough, there must be action.

Sadly 9 years of a failed Trudeau corrupt liberal administration has wreaked havoc and caused devastation in every branch of our forces. Enough is enough! We must turn this around, we must rebuild, plotting a path of success and strength. Supporting our troops in every way, with proper housing, equipment, planning and resources including leadership at the political level that they can believe in and be proud of. We must have their back so they can protect us out front.

This remembrance day proudly wear your poppy and let's honour the sacrifice made by so many of our fellow Canadians who fought so that we could know peace. In an ever increasingly dangerous world we must show strength and resolve as a nation and once again be known throughout the community of nations as "the true north strong and free".

We must...we will get this done!

God Bless You & God Bless the Great Nation of Canada!
