Patriotism, What's That?

Each year we celebrate a tradition that dates back to St. Valentine of Rome in the 3rd century. On February 14th., Valentine's day, we reflect on and celebrate those in our lives that are special to us, our "significant others" our husbands, wives, family member's even our pet's. Love is a very important part of the human experience, to love and be loved is a deep desire in the heart of all mankind.

There is another expression of love, it is love for one's country often referred to as patriotism. It is closely associated with such words as loyalty, allegiance and devotion,

Mark Twain said "In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."

As a country we have endured a decade where our misguided Prime Minister has referred to Canada as a "post national state" also "having no national identity". Our leaders have frowned upon patriotism and those that are true Canadian patriots.

Let me be very clear, patriotism is not a bad word or an ideal to be scorned. I am a proud patriot and I know there are millions across this great country that are as well.

Is it any wonder that the US president is taking advantage of the current Canadian administration's weakness and advocating for the 51st. state?

Is it any wonder that corruption is ripe in our government with spending out of control?

Is in any wonder that our military is at one of its weakest unequipped points in history with recruitment and retention at record lows?

Is it any wonder that violent crime, hard drug use, theft, gun violence and so on have all exploded?

Is it any wonder that immigration is out of control, a broken system with near open borders without deterrence, oversight or enforcement?

Is in any wonder that our government has been in an all out war on resource development, project approvals and responsible development of our natural resources?

Is in any wonder that we are sending billions and billions of dollars to places in the world many of us would not even recognize, to push their ideologies and and wretched agendas upon others? Money that should be spent on such things as healthcare, infrastructure, national security and other pressing needs at home.

Patriotism Matters!

As Mark Twain so aptly observed we have lived through a decade where it has not been popular to be a patriot, but I believe we are rising from our slumber. The time has come to once again put Canada first. Stand up for this nation, reignite our national pride and commence the rebuilding of everything from national infrastructure, security apparatus, healthcare system, immigration laws to our international relations and foreign affairs department.

We must stand up for our nation, we cannot endure another period like the last decade, Canada cannot withstand that sort of asinine leadership ever again.

This Valentines day as you express affection to those you love and reserve for them first place in your heart. Let a sense of renewed patriotism well up in your heart for Canada. Lets together as a Canadian family put Canada first. Be the patriot that will boldly take a stand for this nation. We can do better, we must do better and we will do better.

We will succeed and many others who have for whatever reason held back will stand together for Canada. The tide has turned in this country, after a decade of decline we will once again, together as patriots, put Canada first!

Please be sure your Conservative Party of Canada membership is current so you are eligible to vote in the nomination meeting.

Come out and chat at one of the meet and greets

Volunteer to help once the writ finally drops and we are in a federal election.

God Bless you all, we will together put Canada first.
