Thankful for what???

Monday, October 14th, Canadians from coast to coast to coast will gather with family on "Thanksgiving" to eat turkey, reflect and be thankful... but thankful for what?

According to "The Canadian Encyclopedia" our Canadian thanksgiving can trace its origins back to explorer Sir Martin Frobisher and his crew in the Eastern Arctic in 1578, giving thanks for their safe arrival in what is today the Canadian territory of Nunavut.

Going through many variations and dates over the years, in 1957 parliament proclaimed the observance be held on the 2nd Monday of October as "a day of general thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed".

My wife Glenda and I have visited many countries around the world and I submit to you that we are blessed to live in the greatest country on the face of planet earth.

Are we perfect? No.

Have we made mistakes in our past? Yes.

Will we make mistakes again? Yes.

During thanksgiving October 14, 2024 Canada is dealing with...

  • Record crime levels

  • Staggering federal government scandal and corruption

  • Out of control fiscal policies leading to record national deficits and debt

  • Declining standard of living

  • Heartbreaking levels of substance abuse

  • Profound breakdowns in numerous areas of society

But there is hope and for that we can be thankful...

We are in the sunset months or maybe even weeks of a federal administration whose misguided policies have caused or at least amplified these issues that are plaguing Canada.

This great country is worth fighting for. It will take tenacity, backbone and common sense to pull Canada back on course but back on course we will go!

A strong Conservative majority in the House of Commons will govern this country away from the brink and back to a place of safety, prosperity, fiscal responsibility and strength.

Pierre Poilievre and a strong team of Conservative men and women all across this country will...

Axe the tax,

Build the Homes,

Fix the budget and

Stop the crime.

Working together we can do this. We need your help.

In order to vote in the upcoming nomination meeting for the Thunder Bay - Rainy River district you must be a party member and be present at the meeting.

Thank you for your support and as parliament proclaimed in 1957, this Thanksgiving pause a moment and 'thank Almighty God' for this great nation of Canada and the blessing of calling it home.

Also say a prayer for its future and for guidance and wisdom upon the new government that will be in place before Thanksgiving 2025.

God Bless you all and God Bless this great nation of Canada.
